Southend says Thanks to Lorraine and Eric
At the Community Council meeting on 24th September Lorraine and Eric Milligan were presented with a painting by Morag Docherty as a thank you for all the work they had done for many organisations in the community over the years. I have received a note of thanks from them and here are some of the comments from them.
We would like to thank everyone who contributed towards the lovely painting and especially Morag Docherty for capturing the wonderful view that we saw most every day.
We always will think of Southend as our home as we enjoyed ourselves so much there and looking at the painting will remind us of the beautiful countryside and our journey to and from Feorlan.
In your speech on their behalf you referred to various things we had done in our time in Argyll. Anything we did was because we wanted to and was no more than lots of others do. We are trying to say that we don't think we really deserve such a wonderful leaving present, you were all very good to have thought of us in the way you did and we will think of you all whenever we look at the Southend landscape.’
Both Lorraine and Eric were involved with a number of organisations (Southend Community Council, Dunaverty Village Hall, Dunaverty Players, RNLI, Rotary, WRI and many more) and Eric also audited the ‘books’ for many more organisations throughout the area.
Painting is of the view from the Mull of Kintyre Road over Keil and Southend by Morag Docherty Original Art Studio Gallery Southend. Picture in Argyll Arms Southend (24/9/08)
